One of the oldest large companies in the United States, Cooper Industries was founded in 1833, and incorporated in 1895 as “The C. & G. Cooper Company”. Originally, the company produced steam engines and compressors, however, diversification led to the present name “Cooper Industries” being adopted in 1965. During the later part of the twentieth century, Cooper rapidly entered many other industries. Cooper Industries first began business relations with Chongqing Aihua Machine and Electronic Co., Ltd. (Aihua Motors) in 2006, with Aihua Motors producing pressed metal parts for Cooper Industries.
During the fiscal year of 2006, Cooper Industries reported sales of USD 5.18 billion, with a net income of USD 464 million.
